Bollywood is currently experiencing a fresh new wave, with a slew of filmmakers making their debuts. However, there have been some blockbuster directors who have given us some ground-breaking cinema in the past. The filmmakers not only influenced the way we tell stories in films but also raised the bar in Bollywood to an entirely new level. Enjoy the continuation of our list of ten game-changing new A-list directors.

5. Kabir Khan
He began his career with Discovery Channel as a cinematographer. He got to work on a documentary film called Beyond the Himalayas, as a cinematographer. Direction for this Documentary film was done by Gautam Ghosh. After this rich experience, Kabir wanted to do something completely different and on his own. So he made a documentary film called "The Forgotten Army", which was on the basis of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. With this, he gained his own name and identity as a director.

He had a chance to direct two more documentaries after this. After the three documentaries, Kabir's gaze shifted to mainstream cinema. He began his career in Bollywood with Kabul Express. Released in 2006, this movie stood as a head-turner of those times and gained good recognition for Kabir. While New York too gained a lot of popularity, Kabir's first movie with Salman Khan Ek Tha Tiger, released in 2012 gained huge success at the box-office as well. It made him an overall winner.

He has worked tirelessly to produce several hits like Ek Tar Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, andNew York which perpetuated his fame in the industry.



6. Farhan Akthar
One of the most recognized young directors of Indian cinema. In fact, he is the most versatile person in the industry as of now. He is Farhan Akhtar, a film director, actor, singer, writer, producer, screenwriter everything you name it, he has it. Son of the famous writer Javed Akhtar & actress Honey Irani was born on 09 Jan 1974 in Mumbai.

As he was growing, he found the film industry around him. At home, the atmosphere of arts, literature influenced him to become a creative man. He did his schooling at Maneckji Cooper & Graduated from HR College, Mumbai. After then, he started his career in films, first as assistant director & then director. His first directorial debut was Dil Chahta Hai in 2001 which received critical acclaim as well as commercial success. After then he did not see back & made other movies like Lakshya in 2004, Don in 2006, Rock On in 2008. He got two national awards, one for Dil Chahta Hai & another for Rock On for direction & production subsequently.

7. Rohit Shetty
Rohit Shetty is a famous director in Bollywood who has given the Blockbuster film Chennai Express (2013) following a hat trick with his three movies Bol Bachan, Golmaal 3, and Singham. His Chennai Express movie is the fourth largest box office collection in Bollywood to date. This talent director was born on 14 March 1974. He was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father is a legend in the Bollywood Industry. He is one of the famous Stunt masters in India. His father’s name is Shetty and he is fondly called as ‘Fighter Shetty’. His mother’s name is Ratna Shetty. His debut feature film was ‘Zameen’ in 2003 with Devgan, while doing this film he had been in Industry for more than ten years as Assistant Director. 

8. Rakesh Roshan
Rakesh is reputed for directing flicks starting with K. He launched his son Hrithik Roshan with the 2000 flick Kaho Na Pyar Hai which was the blockbuster of the year. A promising star was born in Indian cinema that year. His commendable works are Khoon Bhari Maang, Khudgarz, Karan Arjun, Kishen Kanheiya, Kaho Na Pyar Hai, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish, etc. Kaho Na Pyar Hai and Koi Mil Gaya fetched him Filmfare Awards for Best Director. Kaho Na Pyar Hai is recorded in Limca Book of Record for fetching the most number of awards.

9. Rajkumar Santoshi 
Rajkumar Santoshi is an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter of Hindi films. Counted as one of the most successful filmmakers in the Hindi film industry, he has received several accolades, including three National Film Awards and six Filmfare Awards. Santoshi made his directorial debut with the crime film Ghayal (1990), which won him the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. He has since made several other films with box office successes and is regarded as one of the best hands in filmmaking in the Bollywood film industry.

10. Priyadarshan 
Priyadarshan Soman Nair, better known by the mononym Priyadarshan, is an Indian film director, writer, and producer. In a career spanning over three decades, he has directed more than 95 films in various Indian languages, predominantly in Malayalam and Hindi, while also having done six films in Tamil and two in Telugu. Known primarily for his films Khatta Meetha, Hera Pheri, and other comedies featuring convoluted plots, the director is popular for giving the element of humor a fresh twist.
