Bollywood movies are said to be heavily influenced by Hollywood films. However, our legendary films are frequently influenced by Hollywood. Hollywood and Western films have also incorporated Indian film themes, sequences, and plotlines into their productions. Here's a list of worldwide films that drew inspiration from a variety of regional and Bollywood films, and trust us when we say that you'll start admiring our Indian cinema even more because it's our films that have been so amazing.
1. Hitch (2005) – Chhoti Si Baat (1975)
Because Chhoti Si Baat is about a shy man who wants to connect with a girl he likes, and Will Smith's role in Hitch was so similar to Chhoti Si Baat, we may say it was affected by it.
2. Leap Year (2010) – Jab We Met (2007)
Jab We Met, directed by Imtiaz Ali, was a tremendous hit in India, but did you realize that Leap Year had a similar plot? "I have heard that Leap Year takes influence from my film," said Imtiaz Ali, who was overjoyed. I'm content and don't care about issues like plagiarism or copyright. It's comforting to know that Hollywood movies can borrow from us." Mr Ali, you should be proud of what you've accomplished.
3. Fear (1996) – Darr (1993)
The names are rather well-known. In this film, Shah Rukh Khan played a stalker who was trying to woo the girl he adored. Fear was based on this horrific love story. Even though the plots are different, Fear and Darr have a lot of scenes in common.
4. A Common Man (2013) – A Wednesday (2008)
The official remake of A Wednesday was A Common Man. The screenplay for this high-octane thriller was rewritten by director Rutnam. A Common Man was such a hit that it took home honours at the Madrid International Film Festival, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor.
5. Kill Bill (2003) – Abhay (2001)
Despite the differences in plot, Quentin Tarantino's famous thriller had action sequences inspired by Kamal Hassan's Abhay, according to Anurag Kashyap. Aalavandhan (a 2001 Tamil film starring Kamal Hassan) was adapted into Hindi as Abhay.
6. Delivery Man (2013)– Vicky Donor (2012)
The plot and the fact that Vince Vaughn's sperm contributions resulted in the birth of 533 children as opposed to Ayyushman's 53 children may be the difference between the two films (guess Vince is more fertile). However, Vicky Donor influenced the film's central concept, sperm donation.
7. Win A Date With Tad Hamilton! (2004)– Rangeela (1995)
Although Aamir Khan's best friend isn't a tapori, the film's fundamental premise revolves around a girl who is entangled in a love triangle with her closest friend and a movie star.
8. Pearl Harbor (2001)- Sangam (1964)
Pearl Harbor was more about a romantic love triangle involving two best friends and a girl than it was about Pearl Harbor. Both films have similar plots, with the exception that Sangam only has one friend as a pilot, while its Hollywood equivalent has both.
9. Just Go With It (2011)- Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005)
Sushmita Sen is played by Jennifer Aniston, and Salman Khan is played by Adam Sandler. Yes, that doesn't add up, but the main plots of both films are strikingly similar.
10. Divorce Invitation (2012)- Aahwanam (1997)
S.V. Krishnan Reddy remade his Tamil love comedy for the Hollywood Box Office with Jonathan Bennett and Jamie L. Sigler.
As a multi-billion dollar industry, Bollywood has shown that it is an industry that can not only be inspired by other similar industries; but can also inspire other film industries around the world inspiring movies that have been great successes around the world.
